Our Story.

Coastal Dock and Bulkhead, Inc. was started by Mike Mixon and Danny Varney in 2001 after recognizing the need of a quality dock building company in the local area.

Mike Mixon was born and raised in Liberty County. He began his career at the family owned business - Mixon Auto Parts. After it closed, he began working in construction with various companies (Coastal Utilities, Centurylink, SNF and Cypress Creek Farms).

Danny began his career in the 1960’s as a coal miner in Virginia. He moved to Georgia in the early 1980’s and opened a chain of video stores and pizza restaurants. He bought commercial property and built two shopping centers. Once he and Mike begin Coastal Dock, they worked several years dock building along Coastal Georgia. Danny retired in 2006.

Initially Coastal Dock and Bulkhead, Inc. was located in Midway, Georgia. They immediately begin work on a seawall and dock in the Half Moon area. They traveled along the coast building docks and seawalls. The company moved to Hinesville GA in 2006 when Danny decided to retire. Mike has continued to provide quality dock work for Coastal Georgia.

Coastal Dock and Bulkhead, Inc. offers a range of services – Building stationary docks, floating docks, and decks. Installing handrails, walkways and ramps. Building metal roofs and catwalks. Installing Boat-lifts and jet ski floats. Building seawalls and retaining walls. Stabilizing and replacing pilings under an existing boat house. Creating custom cabinetry.
